Meet Your Librarian

RESEARCH PAPER: (100 points, 19% OF GRADE)

You will write one research-based paper devoted to the topic “A Playwright’s Voice.” Specifically, you are going to examine a play, analyzing its dramatic structure, cultural context, past productions, and discuss its significance to the theatre cannon. You must present your ideas as a whole and discuss how one area impacts the other in the course of your discussion. Research papers are 8-10 pages plus a citation page.

Before you begin, you must identify a play from your Norton Anthology text that interests you. Your paper will transmit information in an interesting manner with the purpose of giving the reader a sense of place, time, cause and effect, impact, significance of your person (playwright), writing style, idea, or event. Be sure to discuss the IMPACT the play/playwright had on individuals, communities, the nation, and/or the world. How far reaching was this work? Is it still important today?  Why?
